Acupuncture and other forms of Eastern medicine are becoming increasingly sought after due to their empowering nature, giving back one control of their body and health care. Many health issues are successfully and safely treated with little or no side effects, some that even Western medicine cannot address. Eastern medicine is based on Qi (pronounced "chee"). Recognized by ancient Chinese, Qi is the vital energy in all life forms and life processes. In the human body, Qi circulates throughout along specific pathways, each associated with a particular physiological system of internal organs. When there is an imbalance of Qi in the body, optimal functioning of these systems is impaired and the result is one of dis-ease.

Using an intricate system of pulse and tongue diagnosis, the flow of Qi in the pathways, or meridians, is determined. Acupuncture points are specific locations on the surface of the body that connect with the meridians, allowing communication with Qi. Modern science has been able to measure the electrical charge at these points, corroborating the locations of the meridians mapped by the ancient healers. Findings from these diagnostic systems combined with other signs and symptoms, creates a composite diagnosis. A treatment plan can then be formulated to return the body to balance and ease.
